Bankrupts
A bankrupt is a person who has been adjudicated bankrupt because
he has been unable to pay his debts and some or all of his creditors
have brought proceedings against him in respect of his debts.
A person who is adjudicated bankrupt loses certain rights:
-He cannot sit in either House of Parliament.
-He cannot be a member of a local authority.
-He cannot be a magistrate.
-He cannot be a director of a limited liability company or take
part in its management.
-He cannot obtain a loan over a certain figure nor make a contract
without declaring that he is a bankrupt.
After ten years a person is automatically discharged from bankruptcy,
but the courts keep the situation regarding bankruptcy under
review, with the aim of restoring more people to their constitutional
rights.
