Under the Trade Union and Labour Relations Act 1974 an employers’
association is defined as an organisation of employers whose
principal purposes include the regulation of relations with
workers or unions, or a federation of such organisations (such
as the Confederation of British Industries). Such an association
may be either a body corporate or an unincorporated association.
Where such an association is unincorporated, it is subject to
the same provisions of the Trade Union and Labour Relations
Act 1974-76 as apply to trade unions.
