Masters of the Supreme Court are concerned with the following
subjects:
-Interlocutory matters, that is, anything which arises in the
course of preparation of a case for trial.
-Taxation of costs in civil cases, that is, deciding what costs
are to be awarded to a successful litigant. (The word ‘taxation’
in this context has nothing whatever to do with taxation in
the normal sense of the term).
-The assessment of damages in undefended civil cases.
From the decision of a Master in the matters mentioned, an appeal
lies either to a High
Court judge or to a Divisional court, depending on the circumstances.
